Two things I like about this ad. One is that by using newscasters to tell the story, instead of a narrator, they’re putting some pressure on the news media to get the details of this story right. Romney is betting that the news media is going to garble the details on the Medicare fight. Obama shows them how you report this correctly, with no he-said-she-said or false equivalence.
The other thing I like is that they’re arguing from a position of strength. They’re showing the footage of the fake Romney talking point about $716 billion in Medicare cuts, and they’re attacking it head on, explaining that those are not benefit cuts, they’re lower provider payments.
