Corbett Punting Action on Transportation Funding Until Next Year

John Micek says transportation funding isn’t getting done this fall:

And despite a push from lawmakers to implement the findings of the administration’s transportation advisory council, Corbett sent a clear signal that that’s an issue for 2013. Ditto for privatizing the liquor stores.

“Transportation, that will be next year,” he said. “I know [House Majority Leader Mike] Turzai would still like the LCB [sold], we’ve been talking to him. If we can get it done this year, that’ll be great. If not, we’ll just keep on working.”

If there’s a silver lining, it’s that maybe there will be more Democrats after January and the compromise bill will end up being a little more left-wing than what we would’ve gotten with the current Republican-dominated legislature.

Weather democrat or republician, its time to sit down and get rid of LCB. It is costing the state dearly when liquor can be available in groceries and convience stores. If this is a problem, look to our neighbors to the north, New York. There, you can buy beer and wine everyplace from groceries to convient stores, and they are as union if not more than PA. So what you waiting for guys when you basically ducking the issue.
