Mike Fitzpatrick got caught on tape echoing Mitt Romney’s nutty Makers vs. Takers worldview in front of some Tea People:
In the recording, Fitzpatrick talks briefly about a group he meets with in Lower Bucks County on a couple of Sundays each year called the Committee for Common Sense, and then explains what the group believes in.
“One of the principles is that we need to support people who have a history and know what it is like to sign the front of a paycheck, not the back of a paycheck,” Fitzpatrick says in the recording. “The front of a paycheck also includes you took a risk and you build a business on your own — without the federal government standing next to you as you’re signing a personal guarantee. It’s just you and your wife and your banker; you know that’s it.”
The crowd laughs as Fitzpatrick says “not the back of the paycheck.”
The remarks, released Monday by the Democratic Party, were made at a fundraiser for Kitchen Table Patriots, a tea party group, that included Republican U.S. Senate candidate Tom Smith.
(Thanks: Scott Kraus)

If you started a business with your wife and your banker you did not do it alone…that banker helped you. The great American system helped you.
And the people who sign the back of those paychecks are the 47% and they are the consumers who support your business. Without consumers you would not succeed. You cannot do it alone.
The head of the Kitchen Table Patriots is a paid lobbyist.
The people who sign the back of the paycheck are also employees. Mitt Romney and the Repubs constantly stress the importance of business owners, but his success at Bain simply could not have happened without outstanding employees. (Mitt might be “full enough of himself” to think it was all him though.)
Same goes for every business — in Bucks or anywhere else. Employees aren’t just the 47%; they’re the 99%. And every business needs help from cops, firefighters, etc at one time or another.

Mike must have direct deposit so he doesn’t have to sign the back of his tax payer funded paycheck.
Why is it that the only people Fitzpatrick, Romney and the GOP seem to value are those who own their own business and make a lot of money. Why do they not value those who work hard every day and strive for a happy, middle-class life whereby they can pay their bills, enjoy a vacation once a year and a night out with their families.
Also it should be noted that in the quote above, Fitzpatrick ASSUMES that only men own these successful businesses as he states that its just “you, your WIFE, and your banker.”
And these people accuse Democrats of waging class warfare??? This is unbelievable. Our esteemed legislators are trying to take away pensions from the middle class, while still collecting theirs, and never including their ridiculous pay and benefits as the main part of the problem. Now we have yet another GOP politician disparaging the very people who keep businesses running, while he continues to reap the benefits of his cushy government job. To paraphrase President Clinton’s convention speech, Fitzpatrick must have brass ones.
Sorry, but you are reading into his comments what you want them to mean. All he’s referring to are “people this group wants to support to run for office.” They want to elect people who have and understand what it takes to run a business. Not people who have only ever lived off the back of government, like most of our career politicians.
