Humane PA has announced their endorsement of Susan Spicka in the 89th General Assembly district over Rep. Rob Kauffman, who made statewide news for photoshopping a puppy into pictures of his family on his campaign literature.

Humane PA is an independent political action committee (PAC) registered in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, whose mission “is supporting candidates who demonstrate an understanding and willingness to help eliminate cruelty to animals in PA.”

“I am very proud to have received the endorsement of Humane USA PA PAC, a non-partisan group dedicated to the elimination of cruelty to animals,” said Spicka.

Spicka says that she won the endorsement over Kauffman because earlier this year, Rep. Kauffman voted against the Animal Shelter Tax Credit, which Spicka says “would have reduced the burden on our local shelters by making it easier for people to adopt animals.”

The measure was defeated by just 1 vote.

“If elected, unlike Rep. Kauffman, I will be an advocate for programs that help our local animal shelters,” added Spicka.

Spicka was quick to explain, however, that readers should note that Rep. Kauffman is not opposed to all tax credits.

Kauffman did in fact “vote for a tax credit to exempt individuals and corporations from paying sales tax when they purchase an airplane, which would cost nearly twice as much as the Animal Shelter Tax Credit,” explained Spicka.

Humane PA urges everyone who truly cares about the humane treatment of animals to please vote for their list of humane candidates on Tuesday November 6th.
