Senator Bob Casey, currently up for re-election and running against Tea Party Republican Tom Smith, has endorsed Kathy Boockvar in her race against Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick in Pennsylvania’s 8th Congressional District.
“Kathy Boockvar will be a leader and voice for middle class families across Bucks and Montgomery counties and that’s why I’m endorsing her for Congress,” said the Senator. “The 113th Congress has its work cut out for itself if it’s to strengthen the middle class, grow the economy, create good jobs, and reduce our deficit. That’s why we need people like Kathy in Washington. She will work with members of both parties to do what’s right for the people of Pennsylvania and America.”
Casey received 58.5% of the vote in Bucks County, a large part of the 8th Congressional District, in 2006 when he was last up for re-election. In 2010, however, Bucks County gave Senator Pat Toomey 53.1% of the vote. Both 2006 and 2010 were swing elections, however.
“It is an honor to have the support of Senator Casey who has been a great public servant for the people of Pennsylvania,” said Boockvar. “I look forward to working with Senator Casey to end the gridlock and Tea party agenda that has hurt women, seniors, and middle class families, and will work instead to boost the economy, reduce the deficit, preserve Medicare and Social Security, and invest in our children’s education.”
