Apparently Rep. Millard didn’t get (or send) the memo about how Republicans supposedly don’t support picking winners and losers in the energy market. Why just coal and gas?

Subject: State heating system to be fueled by coal or natural gas
The General Assembly amended the Administrative Code of 1929 with Act 28 of 1990 to require that state owned facilities install coal-fueled heating systems under certain conditions. While it is important that we protect our coal industry, and although Act 28 also provides for heating systems fueled by PA wood or natural gas as long as they are as cost effective as coal, I believe it is also important that we take greater advantage of our vast natural gas resources.
Therefore, in the near future, I am introducing legislation to amend Section 2420 of the Administrative Code to require that state owned facilities installing new heating systems use coal fired or natural gas-fueled units.
