Jack Wagner: “I Support Sen. Scarnati’s Bill” to Weaken Pittsburgh Transit

I didn’t see this reported in any of the stories on the Pittsburgh Mayoral debate this morning, but last night Jack Wagner said he supported Joe Scarnati’s plan to dilute Pittsburgh’s influence on the Port Authority board by stacking it with a bunch of state and suburban Republicans.

Let’s be clear: this would be a major major setback for transit in the city of Pittsburgh. There’s a direct correlation between the dominance of suburban representatives on the SEPTA board, and underinvestment in transit in the urban core of Philadelphia. The Scarnati/Wagner plan is a plan to hollow out transit service in the city.
