First-term Republican Congressman Keith Rothfus (R-Sewickley) has raised $227,623 this quarter and has $380,404 in cash going forward. Rothfus spent $66,358 this quarter, most of which was spent on fundraising consulting. For their fundraising work, Rothfus paid $13K to Amy Petraglia, $12K to Carey Dunn Sirianni, and $15K to EC Consulting, LLC.
Also of note was a $1,013 check to Jimmy Wan’s Restaurant, which was voted best dim sum in Pittsburgh and has “western Pennsylvania’s most extensive fine sake list.”
This is not the first time that Asian cuisine has entered into the race for the 12th district. Last year, in an ad titled “Fortune,” the Rothfus campaign said that “the closest Keith Rothfus has been with China is when he’s ordered take-out for his family.” The ad proceeded to show his opponent, Congressman Mark Critz, in front of the Great Wall of China.
Rothfus narrowly beat Critz in 2012. Critz has said that he is interested in seeking another term, but is also weighing a run for Lieutenant Governor. Earlier this week, he told The Union Edge that he is still deciding between the two.
Erin McClelland is the only announced Democratic candidate thus far. She reported receiving about $26K in contributions, spent about $13K, and loaned herself $15K. All told, McClelland ended the quarter with just over 30K on hand.
