Corbett hires birther who says Obama’s a Marxist, defended a Nazi memorabilia dealer, and fears creeping sharia law

Between plummeting polling and mounting ethics scandals, Tom Corbett is in a tough place politically. So it’s no surprise that he’s shaking up his staff, including a new chief of staff and secretary of legislative affairs. One staff addition that isn’t receiving as much attention is Ana Puig, the founder of the Bucks County-based tea party group the Kitchen Table Patriots, who was just hired by Governor Corbett as the legislative liaison for the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue.

Puig is as tea party as they come. In recent years, she has promoted an event featuring topics including “The Muslim Brotherhood and creeping sharia law in America” and “Pro-Islamic bias and indoctrination in our public school textbooks.”

In 2009, Puig told the New York Village Voice that Barack Obama is a Marxist and that the way Obama advanced health care reform was “the same thing” Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez did to Venezuela—an “infiltration of the education system, political correctness, class warfare ideology, voter fraud, brainwashing through the mainstream media.”

She has also directly compared Obama to Chavez, saying the United States is creeping toward dictatorship and “it’s no longer a bloody war it’s an ideological war.”

In 2011, she defended a member of her Kitchen Table Patriots who sold Nazi memorabilia, including German World War II military uniforms, medals and badges, edged weapons, flags, field gear and Hitler Youth accessories. Puig told the Bucks County Courier Times that the Nazi-enthusiast in their ranks “is, in essence, our media guy” and “concentrates on taping events, streaming them live.”

Puig said that “the bottom line is he is a historian” and “is an extremely smart person.”

Her Kitchen Table Patriots website also features a blog that promotes the “birther” conspiracy, refers to the President as a “petulant child,” and says that Obama is a member of the Muslim Brotherhood. Along those same lines, in April 2010 she told an Internet radio host that she “completely” agreed with his assertion that liberals are “in alliance with radical Islam.”

Puig also has her own pet conspiracy theory about the President’s “model for implementation of 21st century Marxism” in which she blames the media, the entertainment industry, and schools for branding the Messiah (President Obama) into our society.

On the downright zany side, Puig also has “urged Tea Party groups around the country to boycott Dawn products” because the dish soap company advertises on MSNBC.

According to the Inquirer, Puig was hired August 12 at an annual salary of $68,245.

  1. How long before Corbett fires her and says he was unaware of her background? And who thought this woman was a good hire in the first place?

    • Jon says:

The beauty of this blunder is that he can’t fire her. The base will hate him for that. He has to defend her because he needs their enthusiasm in 2014. And so it falls on us to maximize the political cost of this hire, since he can’t distance himself.

Praise Hussein OBama for bringing us health care for all!! Affordable Care Act is already reducing the deficit, racism and the ocean levels! I believe and meditate every word from from our Marxist Messiah.

    • You obviously don’t know what Marxism is. Also, too, if Obama is a Marxist why did he hire Geithner and probably will hire Larry Summers?

      • Bill Jensen says:

His lies are breathtaking. Such a mastery of deceit! He makes fools of the enemy. Long Live Comrade Obama!

        • Tom says:

Um, Bill…I don’t know whether your handlers got the message out to you yet, but they’re trying to lay off that silly “Marxist” and “Messiah” shtick. First of all, none of you on the right can distinguish between Marxism, communism, and socialism, much less discuss them coherently; and then even YOU should have noticed by now that the only ones who demonstrate a slavish devotion and religious fervor regarding their party or its candidates are…well, you on the right. Now, we on the left have struggled mightily to keep from laughing outright at your anachronistic insanity, but really–you need to get some new material for your insults…that is, as soon as your handlers tell you what it is.

The article never said that the norther blog posts were hers. I’d be willing to bet, that it was from someone else. Usually anyone who signs up can post on a website blog, so they really have no bearing on the founder of the group.
Oh, and Obama does have Marxist tendencies!

So Ms. Puig thinks that Obama wants to eliminate the government altogether? That’s a new one. Apparently she is not aware that Marxism entails completely dissolving the government. I guess she just word vomits without really knowing what she is saying.

I tend to vacillate between loathing the Tea People as a spun and repackaged version of the old bigotry and suspicion of my childhood, and my mom’s side of the family had first-hand, violent experience with the Klan (being Slav, Catholic, and evil UMWA supporters)…and mocking hilarity. When can you say about people, really, he think in buzzwords and talking points and go through life trapped in an altered mental state ruled by loopy paranoid conspiracies? Laughter is a healthy response. I’m thrilled that the Gov his saddled himself with this person. He has sewn up the nutter vote. Gerrymandering and voter suppression won’t save him from the rest of the electorate.

Then there’s the broader question of why the state department of revenue needs a $68,000 legislative liaison and whether someone with her beliefs could mesh that department and the legislature in any kind of productive way.

Get your facts right Jake. Obviously your left-wing sources aren’t’ up on things. Ana Puig is not the founder of the Kitchen Table Patriots.

    Look it up, genius.

Since you like to excoriate folks like Ana Puig, and this is hardly about Ms. Puig here, Barack Obama studied Karl Marx and studied him well. When asked about the spirit of capitalism and its impact on American society, Obama said, “I do think at a certain point you’ve made enough money.” 85 years earlier, Marx declared, “[that] society is arranged so that those with a poor endowment of traits are enabled to do what they are equipped by nature to do without social aid,” and that “money is the universal overturning and confounding of things.”

So, Ms. Puig was spot on in her observation of the two. Is the downfall of European civilization taught at Penn State, Jake?

Bashing Tom Corbett, or Ms. Puig’s new position in his administration can be countered by your inaccuracies regarding her role in the KTP and similarities between Obama and Marx that as a liberal, you don’t have the constitutionality to recognize.

    • B says:

“you don’t have the constitutionality to recognize.”

What does that even _mean_, nutjob?

    • Mackinz says:

So… your arbitrary connection between Obama and Karl Marx is that Obama thinks that there is such a thing as too much money? That he possibly does not like people who reach a certain point in wealth and then continue to get richer for the sole purpose of getting richer?

That doesn’t sound Marxist to me… it sounds… sensible? Non-ruthless? Normal?

Tell us when Obama talks about removing any semblances of low/middle/high class or uses the government to nationalize the private enterprises. You may actually have a case then.
