Nobody is criticizing Kevin Haggerty’s right to publicly disagree with President Obama’s record on the issues from the left. All we are asking is that he not act like an idiot, and use Republican talking points and substance-free smears to trash a Democratic President. It’s not helpful, and it’s not productive.
But Haggerty is doubling down on the stupid Facebook rant instead of using his recent celebrity to take his critique in a more substantive direction. Just listing the problems you’re seeing in your district isn’t substance. Substance is saying what you want to do about it:
In the interview, Mr. Haggerty said he is “a supporter of the president and I was for two elections, but in this job, over the last eight months, I’ve seen the decay of the citizens.”
“They come into my office and they can’t afford medicine and they’re losing their homes and I’m not going to run around shaking hands and smile when the people in my district can’t find work and can’t afford medicine and they’re losing the homes where they raised their families,” he said.
