Today, State Representative Erin Molchany and Beaver County Register of Wills and Clerk of Courts Carol Ruckert Fiorucci announced their support for Erin McClelland’s candidacy for Pennsylvania’s 12th Congressional District.
McClelland faces John Hugya in the Democratic primary, who previously served as John Murtha’s chief of staff. Republican Congressman Keith Rothfus currently represents the CD-12, and faces his own primary opponent, Larry Stiles.
Representative Molchany serves the 22nd District of Pennsylvania, which borders the 12th Congressional District to the south. Rep. Molchany served as the Executive Director of the Pittsburgh Urban Magnet Project (PUMP) where she worked directly with McClelland supporting the organization’s efforts to engage young professionals.
“I have had first-hand experience working with Erin McClelland through PUMP,” Molchany said. “I am confident that Erin is exactly what this region needs: a hardworking leader who understands how to develop data-driven solutions and successfully address economic deficiencies.”
“I have had the pleasure of experiencing Erin’s exemplary leadership and admire her strong and pragmatic approach,” McClelland said. “Her work in the 22nd District utilizing common-sense solutions is passionate and inspiring. I share with her, a conviction to invest in human capital in order to modernize Southwestern Pennsylvania.”
Ms. Fiorucci has been a well-respected Beaver County row officer since first taking office in 1991. Aside from running the only dual office in Beaver County government, Ms. Fiorucci has a long history of service to her local community. She previously served as the Freedom Borough Council President, an elected Delegate to the 2008 Democratic National Convention, a former United Way of Beaver County board member and is currently serving on the Pennsylvania Democratic State Committee’s Executive Board.
“I am excited to endorse Erin McClelland to be Beaver County’s next representative in Congress,” Fiorucci said. “Erin is a breath of fresh air and she has shown that she is a problem solver and not a problem creator.”
“Carol’s longtime commitment to service and experience in making the Beaver County government more efficient for the taxpayer is something I aspire to emulate as an elected official,” McClelland said.
Erin McClelland is a business executive with over 18 years of experience in healthcare. She currently resides in the Natrona Heights section of Harrison Township, Allegheny County with her husband of 15 years and her 12-year-old son.
