Corbett’s Ads Start Out on Defense

Both Tom Corbett reelection ads are tellingly defensive about explaining away why the crap outcomes of the past few years totally aren’t the Republican majority’s fault.

“Blame Ed Rendell!” is not much of a reelection message, but the core Corbett economic message is based on fake numbers increasingly unacceptable to the lamestream media, so that’s where we are.

On the education spending point, Corbett’s just wrong. Not only are we spending less, we’re spending 6% less per pupil than in 2008 – around 3 years before Corbett took over. The claim that he increased state education spending is even sillier than the Marcellus jobs number. What parents care about is per-pupil spending, that’s down, and it’s the Republicans’ fault:
