#PA8: 15 Bucks County Officials Back Shaughnessy Naughton

Good sign for the Naughton campaign. Shaughnessy definitely seems like the underdog in this race at this point with Kevin Strouse getting backing by DCCC and some labor groups.

I’m leaning toward Naughton for several reasons at the moment. I like the emphasis on sustainable development and growth, Democratic women politicians tend to be a bit more liberal than men, and her background in publishing and design and environmentalism are more in line with my political interests. It would also really bother me that if both Kevin Strouse and Daylin Leach won their primaries, PA would have an all-male Congressional delegation:

Shaughnessy Naughton received a slew of endorsements from Bucks County politicians as she pursues the Democratic nomination in PA-8.

Over fifteen local officials voiced their support for the congressional candidate The most prominent among her new supporters is former state Commerce Secretary Norval Reece, who is now an activist in the county. Reeceserved under Governor Milton Shapp in the 1970s, and was also Shapp’s presidential campaign manager.

“I am pleased to announce my support for Shaughnessy Naughton for Congress based on experience, understanding of the key issues, and electability,” said Reece. “Her plans for economic growth and sustainable development for the Eighth District are well grounded, strong and innovative. Furthermore, she is the only candidate in the race with direct experience in the private sector in balancing a budget, meeting a payroll, and taking care of employees – something badly needed in Washington D.C.

Good to see some people bucking that idiot Steve Israel.

  2. Also, have you heard yet whether anyone is running in PA-06?

First off, Naughton isn’t a carpetbagger… Which is a good thing. And she said that the other night right in front of Strouses campaign director but did it in a more politely manner

Naughton was speaking at the MontCo DFA meeting last week and Justin Lamtroe – Strouse’s campaign manager – was there to watch it. Someone in the crowd asked what’s the biggest difference between You and Strouse? She responded “First off, I’m actually from Bucks County and wasn’t recruited to move to the PA 8th, which would get people to back Fitzpatrick even more.” Something along those lines. Everyone was like BUUUUUUUUURN. Then she was talking about her stances against fracking, how the dems should be pushing single-payer and so on.

Private sector experience isn’t always what it’s cracked up to be. Meeting a company payroll isn’t the same thing as a government budget!! People need to stop saying the two are the same!!!!!

Of course, but she has a publishing and design company experience. That’s useful business experience because it gives her some sympathy for freelancers. Not so much about making payroll as having a certainly outlook about who she’ll be looking to help in office.
