#PA11: Lou Barletta Floats Obama Impeachment

They’re all David Brat now:

“He’s just absolutely ignoring the Constitution, and ignoring the laws, and ignoring the checks and balances,” Barletta said. “The problem is, you know, what do you do? For those that say impeach him for breaking the laws or bypassing the laws. Could that pass in the House? It probably, it probably could. Is the majority the American people in favor of impeaching the president? I’m not sure.”

In explaining why such a dramatic move could be plausible, Barletta referenced the recent defeat of Majority Leader Eric Cantor by little-known Tea Party candidate David Brat in thestate’s Republican primary.

“What happened in Virginia you’re going to see happen around the country,” he said. “If [constituents] don’t feel that you’re standing up for them they’re going to throw you out and they’re going to send someone else in … There’s a big message here that people in Washington better pay close attention to.”

What’s amazing here is that in Tea People world, all of these things are so obviously true that they require no explanation. Of course Obama’s been “ignoring the Constitution” and breaking the law. But…what the hell is he talking about? Why do so many political journalists just let members of Congress say this kind of stuff without asking them to elaborate? If Barletta had to explain what he means by “ignoring the Constitution” he’d look like a fool.

  1. Doug Webster says:

This is the standard GOP MO in so many cases:

Obamacare: We need to get rid of it! What would you replace it with? Silence

The current mess in Iraq: Obama caused all this by pulling out the troops. What would you do? Silence

Congressional Gridlock: Obama needs to reach out to Congress and establish bipartisanship. So what will the GOP do to encourage this process, given its track record of repeated delay and outright opposition to any Democratic initiative? Silence

    Add your own.

  2. Julieann Wozniak says:

And he’s black, and the Tea Party just can’t have that. Racism is what this is really all about.

  3. James says:

I had forgotten how nuts Barletta is, so I’m glad he decided to give me a little reminder.

  4. John says:

Remember he too is the guy when running for Congress signed the NO tax increase pledge AFTER raising taxes while mayor of Hazleton.

He is against quotas, WHILE his wife was the owner of the company Barletta made his millions on doing GOVERNMENT highway construction projects……

Hypocrisy but then he is Lou Barletta
