#PABudget: How PA Democrats Can Push the Republican Budget Madness Right Into Election Season

Just vote “no” on everything. Seriously. Make Republicans find the budget votes entirely within the Republican caucus, and keep it going through Election Day.

Any conceivable budget is going to require a tax increase of some kind, and Republicans are counting on Democrats to provide the cover for that vote. They’re probably going to pass some kind of pension changes, and in theory, that’ll give Corbett and the Republicans the all-clear to cave on the severance tax.

But will Republicans vote for the severance tax with no Democrats to provide cover? No way. Or at least the budget will have to fail enough times that they’re finally embarrassed into doing it. And it’ll probably go right up to the election.

Democrats – you have the power to make these guys look like total boneheads, in the lead up to the most important election season of your lives. If you can’t manage to keep it together on a party line vote this year, you don’t deserve to be called a political party. Give the voters the starkest possible reminder of what they get when they vote for a Republican majority in every chamber.

  1. Sean Kitchen says:

you’re way too optimistic on something that should be a “no-brainer”

  2. Squarian says:

“If you can’t manage to keep it together on a party line vote this year, you don’t deserve to be called a political party.”

The oft-quoted quip of Will Rogers comes to mind, unfortunately: “I am not a member of any organized political party. I’m a Democrat.”
