As 650 Job cuts loom, Hershey Workers Worry

A tentative agreement between The Hershey Co. and Chocolate Workers Local 464 has the look and feel of a shotgun wedding.

Even though the deal calls for the elimination of 600 to 650 union jobs through voluntary programs, the union’s business manager said the situation could be worse if members reject the pact.

Meanwhile, a company spokesman said it would need to “re-evaluate operations at these facilities if the agreement is not approved.” Kirk Saville would not elaborate yesterday.

Moving of jobs to Mexico

I just finished e-mailing the Hersey company, and I told them I enjoy their products. I also informed them that when their product started carrying made in Mexico on the label,I would stop enjoying their products. That,s the best I can do to support you.

Made in Mexico

I just became aware of Hershey getting ready to outsource work to Mexico. Any suggestions for support of keeping the jobs in America? I will gladly write to them if you can tell me where to write to.
