Our own CindySnyder (Sy’s ex-wife) uncovered a story about Allentown Councilman Tony Phillips in a park after midnight, with a “friend.” Chris Casey compares it to a humorous incident from a few years back:
One Snowy February night the esteemed Mayor of Columbus was in his city car, alone, touring a less reputable part of the city in the early morning hours, when he ran a redlight and was T-boned by a City Dump Truck that was spreading salt. Alas, his blood alcohol test was inadvertently lost, and because he had to endure life saving surgery, it was a few days, before he was properly interviewed. When he was finally asked, just what he had been doing out there at that ungodly hour, his answer was a deadpan, “Inspecting the City.”This made an ambitious entrepreneur I knew quite a bit of money, selling bumper stickers, which read, I kid you not:
“I’m not drunk, I’m inspecting the city.”
To me the explanation of what was going on should be obvious.
Councilman Tony Phillips was not soliciting a prostitute, he merely engaged the woman to help him inspect and document any safety risks he might find while inspecting the equipment. It’s always smart to have someone along to share whatever magical discoveries you might find, at 3AM, in a City Park.

Tony Phillips, with few friends in the city administration or police department, is truly a friend and advocate of the citizens and taxpayers of Allentown. It is a shame to diminish this important voice for the sake of speculation.

You get caught in a park after 1 AM with a known prostitute, you either have no sense or got caught. I don’t care why you were there, it looks really bad.
Let the justice system shake this out. I hope his status as a former police officer and current city councilman doesn’t diminish the investigation process at all.
And in the end, he’ll have to be held accountable to voters.
