5th DISTRICT CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATE
RICK VILELLO RECEIVES SIGNIFICANT ENDORSEMENTS
LOCK HAVEN – Lock Haven Mayor Richard “Rick” Vilello, Democratic candidate for Pennsylvania’s 5th District U.S. Congressional seat, has recently received several influential endorsements.
76th District State Representative, Mike Hanna (D-Lock Haven), is an outspoken proponent for Vilello. Hanna, who represents Pennsylvanians in Clinton, Centre and Lycoming Counties, says, “Mayor Vilello’s track record in revitalizing our downtown and fostering economic development is head and shoulders above the resumes of any of the other 11 candidates for the 5th District. In fact, Rick could teach a course on economic development that should be required not just for all the other candidates but for incumbent congressmen as well. Congress needs Rick so they can begin to provide the leadership necessary to provide economic opportunity for our people.”
Pennsylvania State Senator John N. Wozniak (D-Johnstown), whose 35th District includes all of Cambria and Clinton Counties as well as parts of Centre, Clearfield and Somerset, is also lending his support to Vilello, stating, “I’ve worked very closely with Rick as Mayor of Lock Haven. He understands government at the local level — especially with regard to tightening budgets — and that’s something Washington should certainly look to. Having local experience, Rick can also help with finding solutions to many of the issues rural Pennsylvanians face.”
Also voicing their support for Vilello are Pottsville Mayor John D.W. Reiley, who currently serves as President of the Pennsylvania League of Cities and Municipalities (PLCM), and Chris Doherty, mayor of Scranton and immediate past president of the PLCM.
“Mayor Vilello would be an immense asset to the Congress of the United States and the 5th Congressional District of Pennsylvania”, stated Reiley.
The 5th Congressional seat will be vacated at the end of this year following the retirement of John Peterson.

Pay Raise Praise
I hope you all don’t see any negative effect from these endorsements. I know that you say that Wozniak and Hanna are “two very powerful” members of the state legislature, but both of them were a part of taking the Big Pay Raise of 2005.
While Hanna did not vote for the pay raise, he decided to take it anyway.

And Senator Wozniak voted and took it.

Since you are speaking for the campaign, can you tell us if Mayor Vilello thinks that Wozniak and Hanna were right for taking the pay raise? If he doesn’t, is he willing to stand up to them and tell them to give the voters our money back?
Didn't they both support tolling I-80?
Didn’t Hanna and Wosniak both support the tolling of I-80? I don’t know if Vilello is against the tolling of I-80 but if he is he should probably decline these endorsements.
Big Pink Pigs
I can just see those activists showing up at Vilello events with that big inflatable pink pig now.
Endorsements
Congrats Rick on two crucial endorsements. Having known both Hanna and Wozniak for many years, knowing their commitment to Central PA., agreed by most, I am pleased they recognize your commitment to improving Pennsylvania, and your desire and ability to spread this commitment over the entire 5th District. I know my family and myself will support your bid for Congress.
