Bob Casey’s New Directions tour made two brief stops in Tioga County today; as the local coordinator I got to see how the Casey team operates.
I was contacted about one month before by the campaign manager in charge of 21 counties including Tioga, given the date, and told to raise a group of Democrats to meet with Casey at the Wellsboro Diner. Two days before the scheduled visit, my county chair and I met with the advance team, four college boys riding around in an SUV filled with junk food wrappers and sleeping four to a room -- but they do know how to organize.
We first drove with them to the Grand Canyon where Casey was making his first stop which would not be publicized. One of the team saw the telescopes and made a note to have plenty of quarters on hand to keep “the girls

I have always loved working with advance teams when a big campaign rolls through. When Kerry came to the Lehigh Valley I had to get a variety of Secret Service background checks, but just being around the energy is amazing.

LOL! That was a hilarious idea to have Casey “shoot” the Duck.
Also Casey is a brave man to travel with 9 girls. I’m
sorry but you can’t tell me a man who’s surrounded by
women, as Casey is, isn’t tuned in or sensitive to women’s issues.
But, more seriously, I think you caught the real essense of Casey. He’s the kind of guy you’d love to have for a next door neighbor. You’d feel safe having him over or having your kids play at his house or you
could give him your housekey when you went away or
ask him to watch your pet, just a person you could count on. Santorum is the opposite, arrogant and
condescending.
