Chesco Democrats keep primary open

Like their GOP counterparts, Chester County Democrats will have four names to choose from when they select two candidates for county commissioner in the May 15 primary.

The party convention Tuesday night ended with no one getting the 148 ballots needed for an endorsement.

The top vote-getter, at 136, was Virginia McMichael, a lawyer and East Whiteland Township supervisor. She was followed by Bill Scott, a lawyer and former West Chester councilman, at 135; Kathi Cozzone, an accountant and financial analyst from Uwchlan Township, at 124; and Ken Knickerbocker, a software company executive and president of the Parkesburg Borough Council, at 120.

“So we’re agreed that we have four terrific candidates,” said Michele Vaughn, chairwoman of the Chester County Democratic Committee.
