Decorated veteran hopes to face Tim Murphy

An Army Reserve colonel and decorated Iraq war veteran joined a growing pack of Democrats vying for the chance to take on U.S. Rep. Tim Murphy in November.

Col. R. Wayne Dudding, who was awarded the Bronze Star for closing valves on a burning oil well near Haditha, said Monday he plans to focus his campaign on the Iraq war, energy independence and health care. He joins five other Democrats looking to unseat Murphy, the three-term Republican incumbent from Upper St. Clair.

Other Democrats who said they are seeking the 18th Congressional District seat are Beth Hafer of Mt. Lebanon; Steve O’Donnell, a Monroeville businessman; Erin Vecchio, a Penn Hills school board member; Brien Wall, an Upper St. Clair insurance company employee; and Dan Wholey, also of Upper St. Clair and an owner of Wholey’s Fish Market in the Strip District. O’Donnell and Wall served at military installations during the Vietnam War.

“I just feel that, with the experience I have, it’s important to try to add my voice to the debate,” said Dudding, 46, of Robinson.

The more the

The more the merrier….

Bozo should be able to knock Murphy on his keister this time out…so I’m all for a cadre of qualified Dems throwing their hats in the ring! Let the best of ‘em win…

Tim can then go back to his private sector job as a child psychologist. Truth be told? This is the last man in the world I would trust with my kid! He is one creepy dude!

A questionable discovery about a Dem in this race

Check this out, i saw it on another blog: I’m pasting below… it’s regarding that ODonnell guy that entered the PA-18 Congressional race. What is this a six horse race… I think wholey withdrew… which is kinda odd because Knoll already gave money to him months ago. Here’s the post.

As a life long Democrat, I CAN NOT AND WILL NOT support Steve O’Donnell because I checked him out as you recommended, and he has kept secret from everyone that he was pretty much terminated or forced out by a company in 1996 due to “rampant mismanagement”.

The Board forced O’Donnell out in 1996 apparently for that exact reason. Westmoreland Human Opportunities started overseeing LSS in Sept 1996 & immediately bailed out of overseeing troubled LSS in October 1996, after learning the “intimate details” of Life Service Systems financial situation. LSS shortly thereafter had to file for bankruptcy on 1/14/1997 under recommendation from the newly appointed Board (by Adelphoi).

Public assistance grant funding of over $1.3 million was secured by LSS from HUD in October 1995 for an LSS housing project, while matching funds were secured as a pre-condition to the HUD grant from United Way ($100,000), the Mellon Foundation ($150,000), and Westmoreland Housing Authority ($25,000)...imagine the attorney fees these organizations had to expend in this debacle.

Here’s a link that shows Mr. O’Donnell as the president of Life Service
Systems, Inc. http://www.manta.com/coms2/dnbcompany_fjghg2

At the first of the year in 1997, LSS had to file for bankruptcy, #97-20226-BM
in the Western PA Federal Bankruptcy court. Check out this appeals link from the bankruptcy court:

Notice that only months after receiving the HUD grant and matching funds totaling
over 1.3 million dollars…LSS experienced “financial and administrative” problems in 1996. You just don’t develop bankruptcy over night and wake up with it the next morning…which again leads back to highly suspect issues of severe mis-management.

O’Donnell does not include reference to Life Service Systems, Inc. under the “About Steve” link on his webpage. Nor does Steve O’Donnell include any reference to Professional Life Services, which in the Bankruptcy court documents under Case No. #97-20226-BM… Professional Life Services is listed as having the same address, ironically as Steve O’Donnell. Why is Professional Life Services also not disclosed? Also, I wonder how much of the taxpayer’s money Westmoreland County had to pay in attorney fees during this debacle.

We need a strong, ethical candidate who will take Tim Murphy to task on ethics as well as positions, not a candidate who has something to hide and has not disclosed this information. And that’s just briefly checking into O’Donnell… imagine what Tim Murphy will come up with when he probes into Steve O’Donnell. Feel free to check out any of these court documents.

Anyone see these candidates at the allegheny co. forum?

Did anyone see the PA-18 candidates at the forum? Looks like there’s going to be some whopper races this year. Wonder if chris casey ll run against gerlach?

About O'Donnell

Apparently you really want the bogging community to know about O’Donnell… It seems like you are falsifying some info though

I was on the Democratic Underground and O’Donnell responded to you. Here is the link
