Democrats again gain in Bucks

Democrats are continuing to gain on long-dominant Republicans in Bucks County as this year's voter registration deadline approaches.

Democrats have signed up more than 2,000 new voters since the spring primary elections, according to the most recent statistics from the Bucks County Board of Elections, while there are a little more than 1,600 new Republicans.

Tuesday is the last day residents can register to vote in time for the Nov. 7 general election.

Bucks County's GOP still holds a comfortable edge of nearly 27,000 voters when it comes to total registrations, but Democrats have been steadily chipping away at that lead in recent years.

It might take years to chip away the registration advantage, but Dems are starting to sneak away with elections that they never won before.

Purple Isn't Blue

I do see “The ‘Burbs” transitioning from solid red to a quaint purple, but certainly not a dark blue. Republicans will retain a strong standing in the collar counties, but they can no longer afford to take one single race for granted. They’ll actually need to go on offense from time to time, as opposed to playing so-so defense. This is evidenced by the state Senate special this past May in Chester. Dinniman simply out-worked them. Southeast Republicans need to understand that as they go, so goes the state (for the most part). If the GOP is to keep Pennsylvania purple (meaning swing), they need to start showing a little passion again, or else they (as the rest of the state GOP) will be muttering the blues for a long time to come.

Re: Purple Isn't Blue

Agreed. And they better start coming up with candidates that have more than just “star” power. Scranton would have been a much better choice than Swann.
