Lobbyist Lashes Out at Sen. Piccola

“I did not have sexual relations with that man.”

The Pittsburgh-based lobbyist who is a friend and political supporter of Gov. Ed Rendell lashed out at a Republican state senator yesterday for questioning the nature of her relationship with Mr. Rendell and whether it may have influenced tax breaks for movie companies.

Leslie M. McCombs said she was incensed at Sen. Jeffrey Piccola of Dauphin County, who had “suggested that I have an inappropriate relationship with the governor.”

In an e-mail to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, she said she had “absolutely not” had a sexual or other inappropriate relationship with Mr. Rendell. Ms. McCombs did say that the governor is a friend and that she and her husband are political supporters of his.

“I am a fund-raiser for the governor,” she said. “My husband and I are committed supporters and that will never change.”

Piccola's role

Interesting that Piccola is using Republican “leadership” money for this. IIRC, Piccola was uncermoniously voted out of any leadership position in the Senate GOP by his own colleagues during the caucus leadership elections subsequent to last November’s elections. Or maybe Piccola is a leader “emeritus” like Perzel.
