Corbett Should Investigate Knowledge of DeNaples's Background

But will Corbett be so quick to interfere after receiving thousands in campaign contributions from DeNaples?

Corman said the Senate has an obligation to find out if either the state police or Gaming Control Board was being untruthful in testimony before the Senate Appropriations Committee about casino owner Louis DeNaples.

“At a minimum someone has not been honest with this committee,” said Corman, a Centre County Republican. “Someone made a decision to turn a blind eye on this DeNaples matter.” If necessary, the attorney general should step in to sort out the mess, he said. Corman wants to know whether any “outside influence” played a role.

Here’s what’s going on. DeNaples stands accused in Dauphin County Court of lying to gambling board investigators about the extent to which he knew two mob figures, one of them dead for 14 years. DeNaples’ lawyers say it’s all lies and the businessman is the victim of a witch hunt.

Blind Eye

THe people who decided to turn a “blind eye” to DeNaples start with the top (Governor Rendell and the legislative leaders) Unfortunately, over $1 Million of DeNaples campaign contributions went to them. WHat did he buy with these contributions?

AMEN, Blind Eyes to DeNaples

I’ve been asking this question, too for quite a while.

Paul Moore

Anything but a BLIND eye!

DeNaples’ dinero bought access and a proxy seat at the table in a governmental process that demands that you pay to play. Those donations pay for a foot in the door and ear that will listen to you. Most of all, those campaign contributions are an investment in getting at the choice meat that legislative pooh-bahs and guv toss around to their “friends” when it becomes available.

At the least, donors may also hope that campaign cash will act as inoculation against the unwanted aspects of government power, like regulation and investigation. Good luck with that when it’s an election year and people are watching, but I digress.

Gaming legislation was a long time in the coming. Knowing that certain “parties” would want a bite HAD to have been the number one consideration by legislative leaders pushing this through past their respective caucus memberships. Quid pro quo, now keep those contributions flowing.

I wonder how many times DeWeese and other caucus chieftains had dinner with DeNaples to discuss which prime cuts were up for smoking.

Speaking of smoking, campaign cash has got to be the reason why we have yet to see a smoking ban. The “new” dem “mah-jor-it-tie” can’t pass up that money from big tobacco.

Maybe I should form a PAC for my fellow asthma sufferers.

Deweese+DeNaples

I am sure one of Deweese staffers made an over-sight.

Mr. Denaples has bought his

Mr. Denaples has bought his way right to the top. Gov. Ed. Ren. leads the pack! These people have gone too far this time. How much is enough???
