Lt Gov Knoll fighting cancer... vows to continue

Our thoughts are with our beloved CBK.

Lt. Gov. Catherine Baker Knoll stunned legislators and political supporters with an announcement Wednesday that she has cancer and vowed to be in the Senate “gavel in hand” when it convenes next month.

“Let me make it clear: I am being treated for cancer,” Knoll said. “I’m going after it aggressively. So far the results are encouraging.”

In the statement on her Web page, Knoll said she was diagnosed this summer with neuroendocrine illness.

What might have precipitated the early announcement is that Knoll had decided not to attend the Democratic National Convention in Denver next week.

Knoll said she was making the statement to say “firsthand what happened to me, and what I’m doing about it. Sometimes, rumors, guesswork and misleading media reports can confuse the message.”

“Much to the surprise of my family and close friends, I’m being obedient, doing what the doctors tell me to do,” Knoll wrote. “Those doctors say I’m responding well. Although the treatments will continue, the outlook is good. I’m optimistic. Most of all I feel fine and I anticipate resuming a full work schedule.”

“She’s doing great,” said her son, Charles Knoll, a Downtown attorney, adding that his mother’s “indomitable spirit” remains undaunted. Full Article and Source
