As promised by Sen Casey, the usual dissembling by Sen Specter.
The U.S. Senate is scheduled to vote Tuesday on a bill that supporters say would make it easier for employees to form unions and detractors say is undemocratic.U.S. Sen. Bob Casey Jr. is all for it.
Mr. Casey, who spoke passionately about the bill on the Senate floor Wednesday, believes adopting it will eventually help compensate workers whose productivity has been rising for years without a corresponding hike in their wages.
“Unions are a cure for rising inequality because they raise wages for more low- and middle-income wage earners, more so than for higher-wage workers,” the Democrat said during his floor speech, according to a transcript.
U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter remains uncommitted on how he’ll vote on the bill, but the Republican plans to explain his position Monday evening on the Senate floor, a spokeswoman said. The Senate will take up a House bill passed March 1. U.S. Reps. Paul E. Kanjorski, D-Nanticoke, and Chris Carney, D-Dimock Township, voted for it.

Casey is deceived
Our unions today are not the American union of ages past. Today they are filled more then ever with corruption and abuse. The union management today has no respect for their members and are always abusing the rights of nonunion workers. It’s sick that our goverment would try and tell“us” that the unions are good for “us”.I say let the Carpenters Union manage Casey’s retirement fund and health care.It comes down to money and the unions are good at spending the money of the rank-n-file worker.Union and non-union workers should start fighting back against this corruption and the deck stacking that is going on.It is our money and labor they are using against us. We are paying to be inslaved so they can live the good life by our hard work!
this union bill is good for all
by passing this bill it will give each person who may or may not be interested in joining a union the right to add his name/ or not without intimidation by company officials hell bent on keeping the American worker at poverty level wages so they can line their pockets with the profits generated by the hard working employee..
Pls, who is more corrupt nowadays than your modern business corporation…look at the headlines each and every day….this is not the doings of the union officials but the corporate leaders who determine what you will earn…...and have in the last seven years with the help of the administration now in charge in Washington reduced earnings significantly…statistics now show that a person paycheck only lasts until Wednesday when payday is Friday…..and there are many other statistics to back up what I am saying…please educate yourself on the pros and cons of unions and you will see that the pros far outweigh the cons.
Proud union retiree with pension, healthcare etc
