Clinton Clings to Six Point Lead in Pennsylvania

So, as expected, the race is tightening in its final week; I said last week that Hillary needs to win by at least +10 to stay viable and I still think that’s true. Obama is now polling at 6 points behind, which is a very dangerous range.

WITH THE Pennsylvania primary six days away, U.S. Sen. Barack Obama has moved within striking distance of rival U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton, according to a new Daily News/Franklin & Marshall Poll.

Clinton clung to a lead of 46 percent to 40 percent for Obama among likely Democratic voters, with 14 percent undecided. In March, Clinton led 51 percent to 35 percent.

But experts said that the survey may not fully show the impact of Obama’s statements last week that small-town Americans are “bitter” over their economic status and “cling to guns or religion.”

“It’s too soon – you’d have to see polls taken Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday,” said political consultant Neil Oxman. “It’s clear [internal] polling in both campaigns shows an uptick in support for her and a downtick for him.”

primary

I think it will be very close and with 14% undecided and don’t forget that 140000 that switched from Rep to Dem. Unlike in Ohio and Texas switching took effort and I don’t see that many people willing to make the effort unless they were serious and I really don’t see any former republicans as someone seeing the light and voting for Hillary. Lets not forget that 140000 are not on anybodys poll since they are too new.

PPG endorses Obama, so does The Boss

I agree that this election could swing 5-10 points in either direction on the day of the election, considering undecided voters and newly registered voters.

Today’s endorsement by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette of Barack Obama should help the Illinois Senator. This is from the PPG’s endorsement:

Pennsylvania — this encrusted, change-averse commonwealth where a state liquor monopoly holds on against all reason and where municipal fiefdoms shrink from sensible consolidation — needs to take a strong look at the new face and the new hope in this race. Because political business-as-usual is more likely to bring the usual disappointment for the Democrats this fall, the Post-Gazette endorses the nomination of Barack Obama, who has brought an excitement and an electricity to American politics not seen since the days of John F. Kennedy.

Other leading figures in Pittsburgh also endorsed Obama, including Dan Rooney and Theresa Heinz Kerry.

Oh, and Bruce Springsteen endorsed Obama too:

LIke most of you, I’ve been following the campaign and I have now seen and heard enough to know where I stand. Senator Obama, in my view, is head and shoulders above the rest.

He has the depth, the reflectiveness, and the resilience to be our next President. He speaks to the America I’ve envisioned in my music for the past 35 years, a generous nation with a citizenry willing to tackle nuanced and complex problems, a country that’s interested in its collective destiny and in the potential of its gathered spirit. A place where “...nobody crowds you, and nobody goes it alone.”

And, he has the drive to

And, he has the drive to raise all our taxes through the roof.
The only people he’ll help are the ones with their hands in workers’ pockets, and that kind of help just turns free Americans into dependents.

Get over it

This is just like OH, TX and CA.

You Obambicons cling to the belief that he has closed the gap and next week there will surely be one poll that has Obambi somehow taking the lead by +3.

How many times are you poor souls going to fall for it? In the end she will win by +10 and everyone will be shaking their heads in Obambi land once again. I mean how much money has this narcissit wasted on advertisements?

She has PA locked up. Lets move along now.

I have just completed my third canvassing weekend for Hillary and again everywhere I go she always leads the pack. The Rendell commercial alone has convinced many of my Centery City friends to switch to Hillary. You guys think every voter registration change and voter increase means they all go to Obama. The pollsters alter their paradigms and keep getting it wrong.

LOL you guys are gonna need it.

Clinton will win by 12 points

should be interesting to see what happens. If clinton can win after being out-spent 4-1 then heck she has my endorsement for prez. Its been interestin watching the 2 as a John Edwards supporter. Not sure who im voting for yet, but i think PA will be close to OHio

obama getting angrier

I think obama showed his overly aggresive side he had been hiding behined all this unity mombojombo. He certainly knows how to bully a woman. Can you say Rick Lazio.

obamabots

I think obama loses by 16. Slamming the state your about to run in is suicide. We might be bitter but not stupid.
