Democrat Barack Obama’s presidential campaign, which as Pennsylvania Avenue notes, continues to be raising more questions than it answers, has apparently finally picked a state director to manage the day-to-day campaign in the state.Craig Schirmer, a Californian with little if any Pennsylvania experience who was involved in Obama’s South Carolina, Wisconsin and North Carolina primary operations, will run the Pennsylvania campaign.

not smart
who can justify this pick… totally lame
I don’t know the guy, but
I don’t know the guy, but in your opinion what makes this pick lame?
JP
well for starters
I would pick someone with political views more in tune with “battleground PA”. This guy may as well stay in Philadelphia. Why would you not pick someone with much better knowledge and experience for PA democratic victories… ummm like someone from Pennsylvania. The “latte liberal stuff” works well in the cities but no where else in the state. That being said, maybe he’ll suprise me… hopefully he’ll get the picture.
Is trashing this guy xenophobic?
Running the campaign in PA will take smarts and ability, and perhaps a dash of “local knowledge,” but I’d go for the first two attributes first. I think that the concept of needing a local insider is way overstated. Most intelligent political operatives know how to read and interpret polling and past votes and they know how to find out where the bodies are buried.
Indeed, sometimes it’s a great advantage to come from the outside and see the landscape without a bunch of preconceived notions about what people will or will not do.
Pilt
i disagree with you Pilt
I agree with the other person…id take an inside guy of the old guard that knows all the nooks and crannies any day over an outsider.
WHAT WE NEED, IS SOMEONE
WHAT WE NEED, IS SOMEONE WHO IS NOT, REPEAT, NOT ONE OF THE CONSERVATIVE, ENTRENCHED, SELF-SERVING OLD-GUARD@!!! THEY ARE OBSTRUCTING THE OBAMA CAMPAIGN EVERY WAY THEY CAN
no old guard???
no old guard support and participation = no democratic election victory in PA. Liberal democrats are essentially a wash in PA outside of the city. Pro Labor, Pro- 2nd amdt democrats are hard to beat in this state… That being the political reality outside of Philly, id be careful to say you dont need the old-guard on board to win. That doesnt even pass the hysterical laughter test in the suburbs and middle of the state.
