Rendell: Hillary Will Win By 4-6 if Philly Turns Out

From Wendy Warren at the Daily News:

Gov. Rendell was at the Famous deli for the usual election-day power lunch, and sounding positive about his candidate’s chances — but more positive if all of the state’s counties vote.

The guv said that, if the turnout is even through the state, Clinton will win by 6 to 10 points.

If turnout is heaviest in the Philly burbs, Clinton wins by 4 to 6 points, Rendell said.

Rendell knows

The Guv has a tremendous organization that’s not only good at getting out the vote, but also tracking turnout. Plus he knows SE Pa like the back of his hand.

Yes, but

Yes, but what he was saying is that a low turnout in Philly helps Hillary, not that his machine would get more votes there.

It's not even Philly, it's the burbs

If HRC keeps Philadelphia close, that’s ok. I’d expect probably a 55-45 loss for her there. Voting in Philly is always along racial lines, but I expect Obama to pick up the white liberal Center City vote plus the black vote (Nutter coalition). She’ll get the blue-collar River Wards, NE and South Philly votes. Rendell will have his troops tracking turnout there.

It’s the suburbs that will determine the margin. I’m not really sure how they will go. HRC should have a lot of support among the educated women there – sort of the Allyson Schwartz type voters. If they go big for Obama, I think I’ll be surprised.

This is what Rendell is saying.
