Tom Knox for state Treasurer?

From Brett Leiberman at Pennsyltucky Politics:

Wealthy Philadelphia businessman Tom Knox may be looking to throw his name into the mix of Democratic candidates running for state treasurer this year.

Knox was in Harrisburg on Wednesday telling folks he’s considering a run for treasurer, according to two usually reliable sources.

Win or lose, Knox’s thinking goes, the millions he’d spend on TV ads to raise his statewide name ID would be just the thing to lay the groundwork for what he’s got his eyes set on — a 2010 bid for governor, the sources said he told people.

The former Philadelphia mayoral candidate sunk at least $8 million of his own money into that unsuccessful race and would plan to use more of his personal resources for statewide campaigns.
