Roddey, Burn Looking for Voters and Candidates for 08

Jim Roddey and Jim Burn, two men known for their competitive natures, take the prospect of squaring off over politics with grace and humor.

As the 2008 political season approaches, Roddey, 74, and Burn, 44, are gearing up to compete for the same thing: registering voters from among the more than 960,000 eligible people in Allegheny County and recruiting candidates who will win.

“This is going to be fun,” said Burn, chairman of the Allegheny County Democratic Committee since 2006. “I am going to give him a call and sit down with him before the holidays, sort of like a Snoopy and the Red Baron thing before we fly into the sky.” ...

Many among the county’s 253,173 registered Republicans are hopeful that Roddey will help infuse new life into the party. Its ranks are sorely outnumbered by the 541,509 Democrats in Allegheny County.

So, we’ll have Burns

So, we’ll have Burns looking out for the public sector unions, Roddey looking out for the billionaires, and more of us getting shafted.

Roddey is a smart dude, but

Roddey is a smart dude, but his NEED to be involved is a little disturbing. The fact that he is currently shilling for a retirement home in TV commercials points to his desire to be in the public eye…no matter what.

And yea, he’ll focus on the group of people who need “wealth management,” despite how little those people have done for Allegheny County in the last quarter century.
