Specter: I'm Not Going Anywhere

He’ll be 80 during his next campaign.

Two weeks after finishing a grueling, three- month regimen of chemotherapy treatments, U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter said today that his prognosis for recovery from Hodgkin’s disease is “excellent.”

The Philadelphia Republican, who has served longer than any senator from Pennsylvania in Senate history, said he fully intends to seek election to a sixth term in 2010.

i certainly wish him better

i certainly wish him better health and a long life, but his craven performance as a loyal vote for almost every horrible Bush bill and appointee totally disqualifies him from future support by anyone other than a right-wing idealoogue

Time to Go

It is ridiculous that he thinks that he should run for reelection. He’s been there too long. The notion that he can bring home the bacon if he gets to chair the appropriations committee is a testament to everything that is wrong about Washington. The man is a walking advertisement for term limits. It’s all about him, not about the greater good. The last thing we need in the Senate is yet another old man. People should know when it is time to retire for the sake of the future, instead of just hanging on for their own sake.

I do hope that he recovers from his illness and is back to great health when, assuming that he is foolish and self-centered enough to run, he is soundly defeated in 2010. Enough is enough.

Although I hate Arlen

Although I hate Arlen Specter, I equally hate the notion of term limits… let the people decide!! Your comment is the ultimate in arrogance… suggesting that you know better than the electorate.
