Despite Troubles, Ravenstahl is a Key Clinton Ally

I hear a lot of criticism of Mayor Ravenstahl, but despite that he keeps soldiering on. First, it was a really gutsy move to formally propose merging with Allegheny County, and now he’s out front and center for Hillary. He’s still called a kid though, even by people who don’t mean it punitively.

In a makeshift auditorium on the banks of the Monongahela River, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton assembled her team of Pennsylvania power brokers. They sat in the front row behind a velvet rope, dressed in dark suits and waving at the crowd. There was the Pennsylvania governor, the county commissioner, a handful of major chief executives . . . and a kid they called Luke.  read more »


Swiss Miss: Just Have a Cheesesteak, John

Everyone “wrongs” Philadelphia at some point. It’s partially just a creation of the news media down there, who have been salivating for another swiss cheese moment since 2004.

Watching his waistline – or his poll numbers – Barack Obama played it safe last week by going to Claudio’s and DiBruno’s, and Hillary compared herself to Rocky, forgetting that he lost. I’ll bet neither candidate has a cheesesteak at Geno’s, with its anti-immigrant connotations.

Now John McCain has seemingly fallen into a South Philly political pothole.  read more »
