Official wants Obama to pay fees for Reading rally

A Reading school board member says he doesn’t think it was legal for the district to waive fees associated with a Barack Obama rally at the high school.

William F. Cinfici says waiving the fees associated with the April rally represents an in-kind donation to the Democrat’s campaign. He says that’s illegal and unfair to taxpayers.  read more »

The Hateful Hillary Lovers

I know nothing about psychology other than what I have learned on the Internet (“Are you ADHD? Click here!”), one college course and my friendship with a learned buddy who actually has a PhD in the subject.

So clearly I am in no position to judge exactly what is going on with this bizarre cohort of Hillary supporters who seem hell-bent on cutting off their noses to spite our nation, as if the lack of a Nader campaign has left them without something to screw up.

I’m talking about the “I won’t vote for Obama because he said nasty things about Hillary and he didn’t play fair” crowd. But while I can’t identify the specific pathology involved here, I feel fairly secure in saying that it’s totally nuts! And maybe it’s nothing more than “I’m taking my football and going home.”  read more »

Pennsylvania's big Clinton backers get behind Obama

Unity was the buzzword among Democrats yesterday, and no more so than in Pennsylvania, where almost all the big power brokers – and many of the smaller ones – had until now thrown their support behind Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton.

But with Sen. Barack Obama the presumptive Democratic nominee, top state Democrats yesterday were left figuring out how to best position the Illinois lawmaker for victory in their swing state, which carries 21 electoral votes.

“Any time, any place, anywhere under any set of circumstances that I can be helpful, that’s where I’m going to be,” Mayor Nutter said yesterday. “I’ll campaign with him here in Philly or in the suburbs or anywhere else they would like.”

“I’m a Democrat,” he added. “I’m supporting the Democratic nominee.”  read more »

Rendell wants 'dream ticket'

Gov. Ed Rendell — one of Hillary Clinton’s most vocal supporters — told CNN on Wednesday that Barack Obama should choose Clinton as his running mate if Obama becomes the Democratic nominee for president.

Obama would need a running mate who appeals to working-class voters and in swing states, and “there’s no question in my mind they should ask Hillary Clinton to be that candidate,” he said.

“I don’t know whether she would accept. I don’t know whether he would do it. But don’t settle for someone, a Clinton supporter. You’ve got the real thing, someone who has energized voters,” said Rendell, who has been mentioned as a possible running mate for either Clinton or Obama.  read more »

Should Hillary continue the fight?

Many people have made very compelling arguments for why Senator Hillary Clinton should drop out of the race for the Presidency. They say it is divisive to the Democratic Party. They say she can’t win. They say that any supervoters that support her are usurping “the will of the people.”

I look at the situation from a different perspective; although I admit to some bias. I am an elected Alternate Delegate, committed to Hillary Clinton. The role of the alternate is rather like an understudy in a Broadway production, just waiting for someone to die or at least eat some bad egg salad. I have also volunteered many hours to help her win in Pennsylvania.  read more »

Chris Carney comes out for Clinton

U.S. Rep. Chris Carney ended months of mulling it over and announced Thursday he’s backing New York Sen. Hillary Clinton for president.

In a statement, Mr. Carney said he met with Mrs. Clinton on Wednesday, “and let her know Thursday that I am supporting her.”

“I have watched this primary process very closely, and as I said I would do, I have weighed the temperament and leadership displayed by Sens. Clinton and Obama during the course of this campaign,” Mr. Carney said in a statement. “We are extremely fortunate to have two very strong candidates vying to lead our nation. Pennsylvania’s 10th (Congressional) District (voters) overwhelmingly chose Sen. Clinton in the Pennsylvania primary and I will respect their decision.”  read more »

CARNEY IS A MAN OF HIS WORD

In a March appearance at Keystone College, Mr. Carney said he would follow the will of Democratic voters in his district….....
Late yesterday, according to the Towanda Daily Review U.S. Congressman Christopher P. Carney will fullfill his promise and cast his super-delagate vote for Senator Hilary Clinton.

“I have watched this primary process very closely, and as I said I would do, I have weighed the temperament and leadership displayed by Sens. Clinton and Obama during the course of this campaign,” Carney said in a statement. “We are extremely fortunate to have two very strong candidates vying to lead our nation. Clinton likely to see 12-delegate margin in state

So it is official, Clinton has a lead in terms of “committed delegates”, “automatic delegates” and “popular vote” in another large state.

Hillary Clinton will net 12 delegates from her presidential primary win in Pennsylvania, according to an analysis by The Morning Call of unofficial vote totals released by the state Friday.

The New York senator, who won the primary with 55 percent of the vote, will pick up a total 85 pledged delegates, a dozen more than Barack Obama, who will gain 73.  read more »

Got Stimulus? Turn Bush-Bucks to Clinton-Cash!

It is time to close the deal, and Hillary needs our help! She has to win more than just Pennsylvania to seal up her fight for the nomination.

More specifically, she needs money to take on the cash machine of Obama!

So I have an idea, as many of you will soon be receiving “Stimulus” checks from President Bush, why not send them to Hillary?!

If you can’t send it all, how about a piece of it?

I think we can all afford to pass $20 bucks from George W to Hillary!

What could be better than taking some Bush Bucks and putting them to work for Hillary Clinton?!

Don’t just hope for change. Vote for it!

Philly Suburbs Fueled Clinton Win

No one seems to be able to say why she did so much better than expected in the Philly suburbs. One reason is that women made up 58% of voters, but it really doesn’t explain her runaway win.

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton won Pennsylvania on Tuesday in large part because she kept Sen. Barack Obama from burying her in Philadelphia and did much better than expected in the suburbs, targeted by both sides as the key battleground.

Obama needed to offset Clinton’s strength elsewhere by rolling up big margins in the city and carrying the suburbs – homes to large numbers of the African American, affluent and college-educated Democratic voters who coalesced behind Obama elsewhere.  read more »

Clinton Hangs On, Says She's Not a Quitter

So, it’s Wednesday morning, Hillary won by a comfortable margin… now what? Her campaign is struggling for funds and nationally voters have decided her opponent is better. Where does she go from here?

“Some people counted me out and said to drop out, but the American people don’t quit, and they deserve a president who doesn’t quit either,” Clinton told cheering supporters last night at the Park Hyatt Philadelphia at the Bellevue. “Because of you, the tide is turning.”  read more »

Spend Bush Stimulus on his replacement -- Hillary!

Hillary: $3 Million raised in last three hours!

Keep it up!

It’s time to refill the coffers!

Here’s an idea, give half of the “stimulus” check that George W is sending you to Hillary. Keep half of this money for yourself, and use the other half to put the person in the White House that will change your life!

Think about it.

How much of a slap in Bush’s face is it to fund Hillary with money he sent to you?!

I owe this idea to my partner, and it’s a great one!

Rendell: Hillary Will Win By 4-6 if Philly Turns Out

From Wendy Warren at the Daily News:

Gov. Rendell was at the Famous deli for the usual election-day power lunch, and sounding positive about his candidate’s chances — but more positive if all of the state’s counties vote.

The guv said that, if the turnout is even through the state, Clinton will win by 6 to 10 points.

If turnout is heaviest in the Philly burbs, Clinton wins by 4 to 6 points, Rendell said.

Early Clinton Support: PSU, Ebensburg, Hollidaysburg, & Altoona

Early reports from the Altoona Mirror are highlighting votes for both, but it seems that stories of Clinton votes in these areas are outpacing Obama votes. One thing is for sure, this primary is going to be one for the record books!

“I remember going with my mom when I was 5 and I remember the paper ballot,” said sophomore Shannon Scott of Maryland. Today, Scott knew she would vote for Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton when she stepped up to the electronic voting machine. “She has the ability to tell the truth,” Scott said. “I want a person

Clinton Ends PA Campaign with Message of Hope

So here’s my question – is this an actual shift in strategy for Hillary or is the media just covering her more fairly at the 11th hour? Eh, probably a bit of both.

Joined by her husband and daughter, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton wrapped up her final Pennsylvania campaign push last night at a passionate rally at the packed and sweltering Palestra.

“This has been an extraordinary campaign, and it has been for all the right reasons,” Clinton told the audience of about 7,000 supporters, who frequently drowned her out by stomping on the old bleachers of the University of Pennsylvania’s arena.  read more »
