A day in which city of Pittsburgh polling places seemed sleepy ended with a shrill wake-up call for incumbents, at least two of whom won’t be keeping their jobs.Councilwoman Twanda Carlisle, who faces corruption charges, and Councilman Jeff Koch lost their Democratic primary races, according to unofficial results. Councilman Len Bodack’s effort to hold off school board member Patrick Dowd appeared too close to call.
The turnover of as much as one-third of council suggests that those voters who showed up were angry about the city’s ongoing struggles and scandals, observers said.

The ousting is not over!
In a shockingly clever political strategy, former Republican-registered candidate David Adams crossed registered to independant prior to the registration deadline ensuring his position on the November ballot for the 9th District’s Council Seat. “I could not in good sense hope that the district would have deliverd Repubican write-in votes,” Adams stated. “Now the residents have a clear choice in November… for leadership and the success of this district, or the continuation of usless programs, begging, violence, tolorance and apathy. When the residents make the choice for leadership… you will be adding the name Burgess to the ousted list as well this November.”
Destiny
wake up!
pittsburgh is sleeping at the wheel again. if you don’t know, you’d better ask somebody. this 9th district city council race is not over. “warning!!! danger, danger, will robinson!” i’m showing my age. shake the cobb webbs, smell some coffee, do some jumping jacks…c’mon, pay attention. the fun is just beginning. this is a real race, something pittsburgh hasn’t had in a long time. i can’t wait for the fireworks. if you don’t know what’s going on, who will you blame? folks better not be caught unaware or the shock waves of this race will leave people looking stupid with their mouths hanging open and scratching their heads saying “what happened? i thought burgess was a shoe-in.”
Burgess Who????
It amazes me how the media must find ways to deliver a story. If I was just a layman to local politics, I would believe the now exalted Ricky Burgess walks with the light about his head. Every story written about him presents his being as if his campaign is for real. Not one person or reporter questions the fact that this man has “never” participated in community anything prior to this election.
Master Burgess(as he see himself, for there is nothing he does not know)has provided to the neighborhood only the things that would benefit him. I have seen him lie to senior citizens in order to get their support on some personal agenda of his. I have seen very serious mood swings, and a vendetta nature come from this man when someone dares to hold him accountable. If this is the sort of personality you would place in charge of the 9th district than all of you will deserve just what you get.
Are you afraid to ask the tough questions, like:
How did he become the “sloppy second” choice of the lame democratic committee, or better yet. why?
Who is bankrolling Burgess’would be campaign?
Who owns him?
We already know he is and has been for sale, for he has been pimping himself for years now to anyone buying, and his price is cheep!
People here are the facts… Burgess won 50% of a sorry 24%
voter turnout, that is less than 12% of the total vote in that district. Quite frankly that is sorry, but it did get him on the ballot. However, he is not the choice of the people.
I hear there is a brother named David Adams running as an independant against him in November, that takes guts, but if he stands up to the self-imposed Master… He’ll get my vote, and many other’s who will not support the political thugs who seek to control the 9th district!
Master Burgees
I know your right. We need reform, if peope unit behind
me I’ll run as a democrate without the endoresment and I wi, because I’m an honesty canindate and I raise topics that I can win on because I know what I’m talking about.
Sorry ass Burgees
I liked the smart under 40 yet over 37 democratic canididate Eric Smith. His background was very diverse in big business, real estate, he was a director of a social service agency, He holds a Political science degree for a very hard university for African Americans to obtain a degreeat that school is like wow to me. I saw him in the mid west working on the Barrack Obama campainge. You asleep voters in district 9 missed out a a great man to repersent you. I’m a white male but I live in district 9 in Friendship, but he would have been a better choice, that guy Burgees made deals with the white power bosses and they’re going to move both black and white poor people out of Pittsburgh.
